Just a quick post. The article includes a download for the firmware and a short upgrade guide.Updates are quite major on the user-space site. I have tested this on a few GP2X's now and results are good so far. I guess it had to happen sometime.I am very pleased to relay the fact that DignSys (GamePark Holdings Linux Sub-Contractor) have released the source code to the U-Boot boot loader and Linux kernel used on the GP2X on there web site.This is the 1st code release and efforts are on-going to resolve any outstanding aspects surrounding code used on the GP2X. Update: 7th August 2006I got my Wiggler JTAG setup fixed and now have a working GP2X again (thanks to Jr2Swiss for the salvaged GP2X bits :)).As I now have everything up and working again I am more then happy to offer to try and unbrick peoples GP2X's if you get stuck yourself.I am working on a cross-platform JTAG guide to go with this (and trying to make FW 2.0 files for this guide) so expect

What is Open2x, it’s not a game or an emulator, it's a new open source project of course. It has taken a long time to pull together all the bits and line everything up. It is very centred around helping the community get the very best out of the GP2X handheld. We would love to snare some talented coders to help ;-). You can find more info here.

I have, after a bit of hacking about, got build scripts that produce a working GCC 4/glibC 2.3.5 based tool-chain targeted for the GP2X (arm-mmsp2-linux).All executables need to be statically linked (-static on all calls to GCC, G++, LD etc.) but the code generated works well on real hardware.
